It may have been good karma on the side of the Bombers Basketball program Sunday at Parkway West Middle School. Parkway West just so happens to be where Liberty High School boys basketball coach, Chip Sodemann carved his name into MSHSAA history as a member of the Parkway West Longhorns basketball team.
On the same weekend that the Liberty boys team won their first Varsity game, the Bombers Basketball program enjoyed their winningest day in program history.
The morning got started at 10am with the 3rd grade Bombers playing in their first CNR League game against the Missouri Elite Club team. The Bombers competed hard but dropped the days opening contest.
Our 6th Grade Rapplean team took on the top 6th grade team from Rockwood Summit and dropped a hard fought matchup.
The 5th grade Bombers quickly turned the momentum with a 28-16 victory over Rockwood Summit – Black Buckman.
Two hours later the 5th graders found themselves up against a tough Parkway South team that would be decided in overtime with Parkway South edging out the Bombers 24-22.
At 3pm, the 6th Grade-Ashby Bombers won in convincing fashion, 31-8 over Rockwood Summit – White Hamilton.
Bombers 7th Grade (Meyer) took the court at 4pm against Summit White Meier. While the Bombers had a short bench with only 6 players available for the day, the Bombers controlled the tempo and scoreboard for most of the game. The Bombers finished with a 6 point victory.
Also operating with a short bench, Bombers 7th Grade (Collins) dominated the game against Summit Silver-Taff winning 46-12.
In the final matchup of the night, Bombers 8th Grade battled back and forth with Summit Black – Strickland. After trailing 13-12 at halftime, the Bombers defense took over the contest in the 2nd half. The Bombers would finish with a 35-19 victory.
