Coaches

ATTENTION – NEW COACHES!

The Bombers Basketball program has enjoyed remarkable growth during the fall 2014 and winter 2015 seasons incorporating feeder teams for Liberty High School. Over 325 players participated in the Bombers Basketball program and we anticipate adding another 30% to 40% in the fall of 2015. In order to facilitate this growth, additional coaches will be added to lead teams at the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade levels for both boys and girls. If you are interested in assisting the Bombers Basketball program in a coaching capacity, please email Dustin Ashby HERE.

DUSTIN ASHBY (dustin@bombersbasketball.org)
Head Coach – 7th Grade Boys
Head Coach – 6th Grade Boys
Head Coach – 5th Grade Boys
Head Coach – 4th Grade Boys
Head Coach – 1st Grade Boys

Dustin’s experience training athletes began 18 years ago as the college golf coach at his alma mater, University of Missouri-St. Louis, where he built two different teams that would qualify for the Division II National Championship.

Since 2010, Ashby has dedicated his coaching time towards his son’s youth baseball and basketball teams. Ashby attended Lafayette High School in Wildwood, MO, where he played a variety of sports. He went on to attend the University of Missouri-St. Louis on a golf scholarship where he earned All-Conference honors. Dustin’s a two-time past champion of the St. Louis District Amateur Championship and consistently ranked among the top amateur golfers in the state of Missouri.

Dustin is a believer is youth athletes participating in multiple sports, with the sport in season receiving the most attention.  The benefits of cross training are significant, but as equally important, the negative risks of concentrating on only one discipline are substantial for a youth athlete.

Professionally, Dustin hosts a local talk show affiliated with 101 ESPN, The Back Nine. In addition to his radio show, Ashby operates a business development / marketing consulting company specializing in sports properties, professional athletes and brands.

As a High School basketball coach, Doug led his teams to multiple district and conference championships, coached multiple all-state players, and has organized and led multiple camps for students of all ages. Doug’s also coached three different high school A.A.U. teams that made it to the national A.A.U. tournament. In 1997, Doug’s AAU team finished as a top 12 in AAU Nationals.
