Half court bomb and Free Throw the difference

March 8, 2015 – It was a heave from beyond half court and a pressure packed free throw dropping that made the difference for the 5th Grade Bombers.

The Bombers were playing the second game of their Sunday doubleheader against a team from Francis Howell as the clock ticked down to end the first half.  Aiden M. threw the ball in bounds from underneath the Bombers basket with just 3.9 seconds on the clock. Chris R. waited to touch the ball as it approached half court and instead of grabbing the ball and taking a few quick dribbles to get closer to the basket, Chris R. elected to heave it from beyond the half court line. The result, was a perfect swish, giving the Bombers a 7-6 halftime lead.

The second half would prove to be on of the more chaotic halves of the season with both teams pressuring full court. Yet despite the up and down pace of the second half, it was a free throw by Andy S. that clinched the game for the Bombers.
